Final Essay Day 2

Amari from Copper Sun by Sharon m. Draper and Mattie from Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson are similar in many ways. They both show characteristics of strength, independence, and pride. Amari was a young girl who was taken from her normal everyday life and forced into slavery. She watched as the people around her died and never looked back. Mattie is also a young girl who was taken out of her normal routine and demanded to uproot her life to safety and leave as the ones around her were dying one by one. Both amari and mattie show these similarities throughout the whole text and both hold a strong female role in the stories.
