Even if she had not achieved some of the records and goals that she accomplished, she still made headlines in other ways. In the Fall of 1928 she published the book, 20 Hours 40 Minutes, and also became the aviation editor of Cosmopolitan magazine. She became Vice President of public relations for a new airline, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington airways. She contributed to organizing this airline too. The more people that heard about her achievements, the more women’s rights were advertised. She was only the second person to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean, and the first women to ever do this. This is a major accomplishment for women. She helped improve what people thought about women. Stone stated that “Amelia wrote ‘more than ever did I realize how essentially this was a feminine expedition, originated and financed by a woman, whose wish was to emphasize what her sex stood ready to do’” (Stone 73).
