Characteristics of American democracy is to first define the democratic system, “the most familiar form of government to Americans is democracy, in which the supreme political authority rests with the people. The word democracy comes from the Greekdemos, meaning the people, and kratia, meaning rule. The main idea of democracy is that government exists only by the consent of the people and reflects the will of the majority" (Sidlow, E., & Henschen, B.). The principles of American democracy is based on five fundamental principles, Equality in voting, everyone has the right to vote for their desire leader in policies.
