Socioeconomic mobility in the United States, is refereed to as the movement in which a individual, families , or groups moves through our system of hierarchy or stratification. Often those changes in position, occurs when the individual changes in occupation, but having no change in social class , it’s often called a horizontal mobility. An example would be an individual who moves from a managerial position in one company to a similar position in another. Even though, the movement in which involves a change in a social class, is often called vertical mobility or upward mobility, and a negative downward mobility. The United States was the land of opportunity in which an ideas was given to immigrants that they would ultimately live a life of liberty and begin the pursuit of happiness. However, social location have misguided ones idea of how hard work is important to obtain the American Dream. In other words, hopes of living the American Dream is accessible to those who take advantage of given resources to sustain a better life. Sasha Abramsky, who wrote “waking up from the American Dream,” stated “the American dream being mere marking scheme cooked up on Madison Avenue?” ( s.Abramsky 113, para 15). The American Dream is an expression of the American mind. It grows out of our principles and defines us as a nation, as hard workers and builders. If our people around the world knows that America is the land of opportunity. Then we would we have a greater chance of saving those who falls into such a economic inequality the stakes are too high, for us to let this American Dream slip away.
