With so many more opportunities, things are bound to change. The modern American Dream is not about making money, rather it is about being happy and fulfilled with one’s life. This new Dream is clear in the excerpt The Right to Fail, “This is hardly the road to riches or to an executive suite. Yet I have met many of these young volunteers, and they are not pining for traditional success. On the contrary, they appear more fulfilled than the average vice-president with a swimming pool,” (Zinsser 83). Becoming a “success” is not everyone’s top priority anymore but this does not mean that the American Dream is dead. What is a top priority for many young Americans is making the most out of their lives by working hard for what they have a passion for. In the story, America and I by Anzia Yezierska, the author writes about her first year in America and how she was struggling to figure out how she would accomplish the American Dream and be happy with her life in America so she found employment in places where she got no fulfillment from her work. Yezierska was so caught up in making money and becoming successful in America that she did not think about finding what she truly loved doing, until the end of the story where she states, “Happiness is only working at what you love,” (Yezierska 21). Anzia Yezierska found that the secret to obtaining the American Dream was to
