Monday October 16th, I visited Mango’s Mexican and American Grill. Mango’s is a family owned restaurant and offers authentic Mexican cuisine in affordable combination platters. I chose to visit this restaurant because it brought back memories from my hometown. Growing up my family would always go out to eat at authentic Mexican restaurants. I was excited to dine at Mango’s because my favorite food is Mexican.
While arriving to Mango’s, I felt a little uncomfortable due to the location of the restaurant. It was connected to a gas station and did not look like it was in best condition. I brought my boyfriend with and right away he mentions how interesting and unusual it was that this was connected to a gas station. I would consider Mango’s Mexican and American Grill to be very ethnic. The name of the restaurant may be deceiving, due to having “American Grill” in the name. They have “American food” in the name because they want customers to know that they serve American food and not just Mexican food. Since Mango’s is family owned, they are very distinctive in culture. Right away walking in, you hear Mexican music playing. The next nonverbal I noticed was the host/waitressed welcomed us with bright eyes and a smile. Another nonverbal that I recall from my experience at Mango’s was the sent. Mango’s had a fresh warm scent. I was unsure if it was the fresh chips that they were making or some Chimichanga cooking. Either way it was a cozy sent. A nonverbal that I caught upon myself was when I was ready to order, I placed my menu down on the table and pushed it back towards the center. This made it easier for the waitress to know that we were ready to order. When we finished the meal, the waitress could tell we were finished due to having clean
