The American Legion Auxiliary Preamble contains eleven different clauses that are all very influential and important to those who follow it. However, because my father was once serving for our country, the clause that states that we are to “preserve the memories and incidents of our associations during the great wars” is the most meaningful to me.
When my father became a United States Marine, he did so in order to help our country preserve the rights and freedoms that we have today. He did so knowing that he was risking his life so others could be safe. America has many different heroes of battle that have given up their lives to provide freedom for us. If we allow for these men and women of courage to be forgotten, we are telling others that
