America Singers, a musician who is never minds being a five. You can explain her as a typical teenage girl living in an obstacle. Being a five isn’t easy but America can handle it . Keeping a secret that can send her to jail for breaking the law for a secret love, a love with a six ,a forbidden love. After midnight she goes in and meets him at the treehouse, Aspen. “He had dark hair and green eyes, and this smile that made you think he had a secret. His black T-shirt was worn to threads in several places, just like the shabby pair of jeans he wore almost everyday.” (Cass, 2012, 14) Aspen is a mysterious figure. This really surprised me because I thought that dating a person for two years would have meant that they had a strong bond and connection. This just shows how important the Selection is . It’s an extremely big deal for Illea and lots of loves and feelings can be broken and hurt like this one. A perfect quote that relates to how America is feeling would be “Humans are fragile creatures made up of broken hearts and broken promises.” This quotes relate to this current rising action of the story because Aspen did promise he would love and stay with her forever. The timing of the break up made it even more dramatic because it was before the Selection. tend to feel like girls take emotions very seriously, especially America. It's her first break up and she honestly loved this guy so much she's willing to marry him.
