Amish Country with my Grandparents
This weekend I visited Amish Country with my grandparents. I had gone once when I was younger but I didn’t remember much about it. When we got there my grandpa and I were starving, so we talked my grandma into grabbing something to eat. We found a small home-cooking restaurant right when we pulled in, it was fate. We walked in and waited to be seated, after a couple minutes of just standing around looking like lost puppies we realized it was seat-yourself. The menu had mostly homemade meals, which I was perfectly OK with! I had fried chicken and mashed potatoes and it was easily the best meal I have ever had. My grandpa also talked me into having pie. I mean, we were in Amish country, of course we had to try some pie. We ordered an apple pie, when it got to our table it was still hot and you could tell it was freshly made. It was delicious!
After our meal we wanted to explore a little more. Walking through their little town was very eye-opening to me. Everything was different, stores, restaurants, wineries, and even the language. The stores were pretty close to what I would imagine old fashioned stores would be like. They had the double wooden swinging doors and everything was made from wood. Another huge difference I noticed was how friendly everyone was. Not only the employees at the shop but just everyone in the town. As we walked up and down the dirt streets everyone was smiling and greeting us. My grandpa nudged me and said, “You have something in your teeth.” I was so embarrassed I ran to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, there was nothing. I walked out of the bathroom and my grandpa was laughing hysterically. I guess he noticed everyone was being friendly he found his perfect chance to play a joke. My typical grandpa, I should have known it was coming. My grandma found a brochure in the store we had went in and it said there was a theater we could visit. I had no idea what to expect at a theater in Amish Country. The stores were so different and the restaurants I couldn’t begin to imagine what a theater would be like.
The theater had a show at 3:00 and 7:00. We didn’t plan on staying till 7:00 so we wanted to see the 3:00 show. We got to the theater a little early so we could see what it was like. The outside was pretty big and
