This summer, an activity called Ice Bucket Challenge becomes popular; all of the social media sites are filled with people who dumping the buckets with ice water over their heads. This challenge catches people’s eyes and let more and more people know the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and let them help the patients. However, do you really understand what ALS is? What are the symptoms? And who get ALS?
The ice bucket challenge is not only funny videos, the purpose of this challenge is that let people pay attention on those who affected the ALS and help them. The rule of ice bucket challenge is that people who are challenged by others need to make a video about pouring ice water over their heads by bucket and post this video on Facebook or other social media sites in 24 hours, or donate $100 to ALS association. Because the disease will make people’s muscle become weak, the patients can appear a lot of symptoms. As we all know, muscles throughout our whole body, such as hands, legs, mouths, and so on. Therefore, the patients will feel that they cannot control the muscle movement. At first, they always feel that sometimes there is not enough power in their hands, fingers, or one of the legs. Then, they will no longer move, because they cannot use their hands and legs. After that, they will unable control their mouse and tongues, so they cannot speak and eat.
