The benefits may exceed the drawbacks of the treatments, however, patients must know the damage they are causing, that is if it causes any damage at all.

Authorization for the Report

There are many young, teen-age girls, competing in beauty pageants everywhere around America. They are concerned with their height, their weight, their skin color, their hair, and even their teeth. They will go to the extremes to look their best. The pageant coordinator with the Miss Utah pageant is worried that the girls have low self-esteem, and are damaging their health. She has already coached the girls on eating healthy, and the risks of tanning, however she feels they are also damaging their teeth by using whitening products. Susan. D. Painter, the pageant coordinator, has requested this report to analyze the benefits and drawbacks to teeth whitening and alternatives to bleaching.

Purpose and Procedures

The purpose of this report is to analyze the benefits and drawbacks to teeth whitening and alternatives to bleaching. Specifically, the following questions will be answered: 1. What are the benefits and drawbacks of teeth whitening?

2. What are the products used for bleaching? What are some alternatives?

The findings of this report will come from secondary sources, mainly well-known articles in journals and periodicals published within the last three years and a survey administered to 20
