Is The Real World Really That Scary? In today’s world, parents fear for their children and want the absolute best for them and for them to be perfect. Many parents watch the news and see horrible crimes and events and want to protect their kids from the crime. Due to parents being overprotective they don’t allow their children to experience the real world at a young age, they will never find their true selves, and develop fear of their true identity which causes them to fear society. When kids are overprotected and aren’t exposed to society, they don’t know what to expect and when you give them a tiny bit of freedom, it goes from zero to one hundred real quick. The news media is doing what it has always done, which is to hype up a story to make it more interesting to viewers so that they will watch their stories. “You know that if you get people excited about an issue… that’s what makes it appealing as a topic”(Stossel.151). The down fall to this is that parents are watching and are also getting hyped up on the violence in the world and are over protecting their children. It creates fear for the parents, and fear that their children are going to get hurt by the violence of society. The fact is that they themselves are hurting their children by not allowing them to be exposed to the violent world. How are kids supposed to learn how to problem solve and live a normal life if they are terrified by the world they live
