Marijuana in general has been shunned and prohibited for several years in America. Many powerful entities such as government bureaucracies and government officials have claimed it to be detrimental to human society and have cause massive propagandas to uphold the peace and silence the naysayers. It was not until recent upcoming years that we have started to break down and tear down these misconceptions and begin to find out more information behind the marijuana plant and all its mysteries. In the article, “5 Reasons Marijuana Should Remain Illegal” the author brings up five key points as to why this substance should remain banned. One is the fact that cannabis is extremely addictive for some people. The author refers to an excerpt from Dr. Drew Pinsky who has been working with addicts for decades. The main fact is that marijuana addiction is difficult for some people to overcome, even though they can be fine with it for many years before they start to have difficulties.
