Expedition of Effectiveness “A Successful Expedition” written by Lori Vestergen was published in the US History IEW book in 2014. This true story is historical and non-fiction. The story is about the Lewis and Clark Expedition across the Louisiana Territory. The setting of the story is at the Missouri River, while the Rocky Mountains loom ahead. The main characters in this story are Meriwether Lewis, William Clark and Sacajawea. Lewis and Clark, who were wilderness explorers, were curious and brave. Sacajawea interpreted and guided the expedition. Lewis and a few of his comrades went out into the woods and found a hostile Shoshone tribe and yelled, “Ta-ba-bone,” which he thought meant ‘white man,’ however it actually meant ‘enemy.’
