In the book, “The Hate U Give” by Angie Thomas, identity is a recurring idea that progresses throughout the book. What the author is trying to say about identity is that when you are supposed to be the main advocate in the middle of a racially heated argument, it is scary and hard to speak out due to the pressure of your identity and how people will perceive your identity.
