In Tom's life there are certain priorities that he has. These priorities changed and altered what Tom thought was important in his life. In Contents of a Dead Man's Pocket written by Jack Finney, Tom, the main character prioritizes a piece of paper and his job at a grocery store over his wife and his social life. “You won't mind though, will you, when the money comes in,” In the beginning of the story Tom's wife is leaving for the movies and wants Tom to go with her, but Tom is staying home to work on his store to make more money.
