Hope Galaxie describes her experience of her New year in a splendid poem. She compares her New Year celebration to other individuals New Year celebration. While families are having fun together on New Years Day Galaxie is, “far away from home with nothing but a suitcase and memories.” (4-5). While other people are having, she is away from home thanking God how great the year was. She reflects on her past and makes goals for the New Year. As she raises her hand in full surrender, “To God, my redeemer Lord, this year is far from ordinary I’ve never seen such extraordinary people, places, and things, amazing human beings.” (8-12). She thanks God for such a wonderful year with things and people she has seen and met. She has learned so many things
