The setting of the photos "Shooting Craps" by Jacob Riis (1890), and "Newsies and Bootblacks Shooting Craps" by Lewis Hine (1910) displays a different attitude towards the same activity. In "Shooting Craps" by Jacob Riis (1890) the group of kids are playing craps in an alley, whereas in "Newsies and Bootblacks Shooting Craps" by Lewis Hine (1910) the children look to be playing in front of a store. The fact that the children are in front of a store in Hines photo gives the reader the impression that it was more acceptable to have the children play Craps then it was in Riis’ photograph.
