Psychological disorders are extremely complex and greatly impact the lives of those around a person who has one. Parents are the deciding factor for the beginning of their children's lives; therefore they are the ones who have to decide how to treat their kids when they are diagnosed with a psychological disorder. I believe in cases deemed necessary, children and adolescents should be prescribed psychological drugs on top of therapy. In the video, Louis Theroux - America's Medicated Kids we saw just how dependent families are on medication in order to help their kids. In Hugh's case, he still can not completely control his emotions and observing him heavily medicated frightens me of how he is off the medication. With the medication, the family still has to constantly worry about his actions and if something will set him off; however, Hugh is still an extremely smart kid that can go to school thanks to his medication. Another kid in the video is Jack. He’s six years old and was already kicked out of school. If there was a way to help him, including therapy, I think that would be a great option.
