Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris is a series of essays that allowed me, the reader, to visualize not only his life, but understand his thoughts and emotions throughout the book. From the author’s realization of having a lisp, to trying, but failing, miserably to learn french, Sedaris lives his life full of insecurities, and full of the fear of not fitting in. Throughout the book I am able to explore Sedaris’ feelings and thoughts of belonging, because he constantly illustrates that theme through his childhood, his experiences, and through the people he encounters.
