At first, in the introduction, I strengthened my thesis, by adding the details that were mentioned in the essay. This way the reader can get an overview of what the overall passage in about. Also, I quoted the article and author in a way that is not confusing, by including quotations and commas.
In the body paragraphs, I realized that I joined many ideas in one paragraph. I mentioned how civic engagement decline and its effects on the economy. Before, I would just state the facts and tie them together. Now, by synthesizing, I analyzed the text, discovered the connections, and focus on explaining the ideas precisely. This way the author would be able to get the facts and understand why it is important. Synthesizing also helped me to broaden my way of thinking when reading texts.
