In the book, somehow all the stories are connected to each other. I think as the stories continue on, it is like generations after generations. To add on with this, I think the story with Guy and Lili, which was in the past, affected the present because it was another told to the new generation.Lili was the next generation’s godmother. The girl in that story was told many stories from her ancestors from her mother. The stories where her great grandmother was killed by soldiers, where her grandmother who died in prison, and her godmother who killed herself because her husband died jumping out of a hot air balloon shaped her to be a better person.
