The Hmong are not a widely known cultural group in the United States, let alone in China and other countries near that region. Traditionally, the Hmong can be found in the hill and mountain regions in Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, and China (Cobb 2010). Since the Hmong originate from the hill and mountain regions, they take agriculture quite seriously. It is common for Hmong families to farm wet rice, which also happens to be a common food to eat (Hmong 2012). The Hmong are very agriculturally based individuals and enjoy living off the land.
