Many young adults, from all walks of life, dream of obtaining a college education. Throughout high school, these ambitious individuals work their absolute hardest to be accepted into an honorable institution and to secure a stable future for themselves. One problem that stands between these individuals and achieving their dreams is the extortionate expenses of college tuition. In 2001, former Gov. Rick Perry, signed in to law the Texas DREAM Act, a law in which undocumented immigrants can attend college in Texas at in-state tuition prices . In the years since 2001, numerous undocumented immigrants known as “Dreamers” have attended college in Texas for the same rates as Texas citizens (Foley, 2015).In 2010, approximately $9.5 million dollars was given in grants to nearly 2,500 students in the country illegally.
