Trauma, no matter how mild or severe, will always alter an individual’s response to certain situations, some people more than others. Similarly as seen in Saul’s story. In the novel Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese, Saul’s time in the residential school leaves an ongoing trauma and lifelong consequences such as a bitter personality, alcohol abuse and isolation.
