Julia Thomas Ms. Krick English 8 29 April 2024 Survival Essay Some challengers would argue that being physically fit is how most survive in emergencies, however emotional stability and intellectual thinking are much more important and essential when it comes to surviving in crisis situations. Admittedly, in some cases, if someone is physically fit, it can help to survive. The story “Wilderness” by Carl Sandburg gives us many examples of this. “Fangs pointed for tearing gashes.I keep this wolf because the wilderness gave it to me”. The quote is one example of how if we are physically fit we can survive. If we have strong teeth, we can use them to bite things that can keep us alive and safe in a survival situation. And anyone can intellectually think no matter how physically fit they are. Scripting is another form of thinking intellectually that again requires no need to be physically fit and is something that can save anyone in an emergency. Emotional stability can help keep someone alive during an emergency. The “Survival Is Your Responsibility” by Drayl Miller gives us many reasons why this claim is true. Miller writes “Never give up; the will to live is a valuable asset. Sometimes people perish simply because they fall short of perseverance”. The quote gives readers an example of why emotional stability is important, if we are simply able to call up an emotion so we can see a survivable path we will survive.
