Analyzing Communication Concepts

I will discuss the song Walk a Mile in My Shoes recorded by Joe South and The Believers because I personally feel connected to it. I feel like it relates to the relationship I was in not too long ago. The song shows the communication concepts: redundancy, openness, and empathy. The communication concept redundancy is obviously presented after every other verse and between those same verses the lyrics mean the same thing; for example the lines “If I could be you if you could be me for just one hour. If we could find a way to get inside each other's mind” are both trying to send the same message. Another communication concept is openness because Joe South and The Believers emphasize that the other person should see how they are hurting the person rather than his ego. that same emphasizes expresses the theme empathy.
The concept redundancy is a communication concept that was consistently used in my relationship some time ago. I felt as if I repeated myself many times and I would say things in a different manner but the other person just never seemed to understand where I was coming from or what I was really trying to state. the lines "If I could be you. The verse that supports my claim is "If we could find a way to get inside each other’s minds if you could see you through my eyes instead of your ego' expresses the theme or communication concept openness because it is asking the person to be open and think of the other person. I was in a relationship where the other person would always do things for himself and think about himself before me. I was always his last priority and the last person he thought about. He was not willing to open up and see things the way I do and although he was open-minded in certain things when it came time to be open about my feelings it was not
