Leaving the afterlife after just arriving? How is this possible? In the African myth “Marwe in the underworld” Anjana, Julia, Aryo, and Tiffany we learn of a girl who commits suicide and is sent to the underworld but eventually is sent back to marry Sawoye. In greek mythology we learn of Orpheus who enters and leave the underworld several times, one of which is to retrieve his deceased wife. Both of these myths contain examples of important characters entering and leaving the underworld.
In both of these myths a character dies. In the story of marwe, the main character commits suicide sending her to the underworld. This is a very shocking moment in the story and likewise in the story of Orpheus, his wife dies and is sent to the underworld.
