As people started to relax after frigid temperatures subsided, the terrifying blizzard came unexpectedly on a relatively warm day. Many people were unaware of this natural disaster, especially all of the children in school. The first hour of the storm however, the people started to panic because of the conditions outside. The unpreparedness of the communities, the dangerous conditions, and the courageous people are all aspects that show how both the article and the poem depict the Schoolchildren’s Blizzard of 1888.
