Songs are the highlight of all Disney animations. The beautifully written musical scores catch the attention of the audience and play a huge part in delivering the message across. The song “Colors of the Wind” compares the natives’ appreciation for nature with Western destructiveness. Though it is good to give environmental messages to grow awareness, it is stereotypical to assume that all Western cultures tend to disrupt the environment and that the others only protect it. (Marissa 2012) Even though it might sound benign enough to support this idea of environmental consciousness, it is still a kind of stereotyping, and therefore reducing a culture. Not all Indians are in peace with the nature, just like how not all Westerns see dollar signs
