Andrew Carnegie, one of the fathers of capitalism in the late nineteenth century, wrote this document in 1889. In his essay, which was published in North American Review, he wanted to explain to other industrialists the proper way of distribution of their means. This document demonstrates that the problem of wealth affects everyone – the laborers and the employers. And the addressing of this problem by the capitalist himself, tells us that we can not divide people of that time into the “evil” moguls and “good” workers.
