One person created a cartoon of him that appeared in the presidential election in 1832. Document E shows the image where Andrew Jackson is wearing a king’s clothes and a king’s crown. The illustration also shows Jackson holding the scroll with the word veto on it and the constitution below his foot. It also shows phrases like, “born to command” and “had I been consulted”. The Congress passed the bill to recharter the bank of the United States, though Jackson was against this. In document F Jackson states the reason why he is vetoing the bank, “The present Bank of The United States...enjoys an exclusive privilege of banking...almost a monopoly of the foreign and domestic exchange. “ He argues that the bank had to be destroyed because it only favored the wealthy people. This shows how he hated the rich and felt pity for the poor. Though Daniel Webster had a reply to this, (document G) he stated that by vetoing the bank it will change how every social class of the people would change their view on each other and the liberty. Andrew Jackson only protects himself and do not care how it would affect people in his country.
In conclusion Andrew Jackson was not democratic. Although he listened and followed the majority’s desire however some weren’t fair. The Indians who were the originals of the United States were forced to leave their homeland. They were not given the same freedom as everybody else. They had rules to follow in order to have their actions be acceptable. With this no one has the right to feel excluded and alone in their own home. Jackson took away their freedom. Andrew Jackson as the seventh president of the United States is not
