Anesthesiology
Anesthesiology has been around for quite some time, and it is one of the most important procedures in the operating room. Anesthesiology is the branch of medicine concerned with anesthesia and anesthetics. It is used to put patients to sleep during surgery. Anesthesia could lead to death if it is administered incorrectly. The required amount of years to be an anesthesiologist is 4 years, usually one year of general medical, or surgical training, followed by three years of clinical anesthesiology training under the guidance of experienced anesthesiologists. “The practice of anesthesia by a nurse anesthetist constitutes the practice of nursing.”
About 1 or 2 people in every 1,000 may wake up briefly while receiving general anesthesia.

Although, anesthesia is a way to control pain during a surgery or procedure, sometimes it can go horribly wrong. In the 1940’s, before anesthesiology was at a turning point, more than 640 people died during the process anesthesia. It has been proven that anesthesia may kill brain cells in humans, causing cognitive problems after surgery.
Andreas Loepke, a researcher in the department of anesthesiology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, stated, "During development, we form twice as many neurons as we need as an adult. The brain needs to be reduced back to properly function, so it's currently unknown whether anesthesia kills neurons that would have been eliminated anyways from the brain or neurons later needed for vital function." Thus meaning, it is possible for neurons in the brain to be damaged during the procedure that later could develope, can be used for major functioning.
Another big concern for anesthesiology is the amount of money earned from this job. Anesthesiologists make about $232,830 to $350,00 yearly. “The median hourly wage for an anesthesiologist is more than $80.00 per hour. The upper 10% receive about $100 per hour, while the lower 10% receive up to $55.52 per hour.” According to the International Business Machines Corporation,
