Green and yellow entwine into two,
Rich brown soil spread evenly among the acres
A home sits behind the towers of crops, in the shadows
Where family has bloomed for years, with many more to come
Making profit from the soil, the sun, the water; nature
Dark black ravens circle above, waiting for an opportunity
To snatch away at the money thriving beneath their wings
A scarecrow is present, standing tall and proud
Doing his job and keeping the crops healthy in the ground
He ponders
Along the horizon, another field is present
A little smaller than the last one, but there
With a family of crows proportionate to the size of the field
Fluttering, flocking, flustering, in a frenzy
To bully the greenery …show more content…
He screeches at the crows,
Yells “Be Gone!” left and right
His eyes trail the horizon, searching for the other scarecrow
Barely within his sight
The other scarecrows farm is much larger, much more profitable
He ponders
Wondering why he works so hard when his home will never be as beautiful
Runs across his mind so frequently you’d think a race was occuring
When a young lady arrives and asks which way to go
It always seems best to point in the opposing direction
That farm is far to outstanding to ever compete with
But one day, when the clouds were out of sight and the sun was at its peak,
A scarecrow wishes to relax and lay beneath the flourishing leaves
His day is just as he imagined, without a worry in the air,
But what he did not predict was that the crows were far too near
The crops had began to become diminished and destroyed
On the much smaller farm, the scarecrow knew to not slack
He watched upon the crops, never taking a step back
For he knew what could happen, if for even one day he relaxed
He ponders
What would it be like to do something he wanted for once
On the larger farm, during the months of
May, June, July, and finally August
The scarecrow persistently avoided his obligations
He lived his days of these warm summer months just as any teenager
