Wherein the poem lines have different length formed according to the number of syllables. The first line "It was many and many a year ago" as the fifth "And this maiden she lived with no other thought" consist of eleven syllables and the third "That a maiden there lived whom you may know" out of ten syllables (Poe 783). Such rhythmic motif runs through the entire work, creating a disturbing and exciting atmosphere for the reader. Moreover, the first six lines of the may be analyzed as a place of the application of such techniques consonance, assonance and alliteration. Assonance is represented as a vowel "i", which is found in the words "kingdom," "lived," "this," and "with" (Poe 783). Consonance, in its turn is represented as a consonant “m” at the end of words such as: “kingdom”, “whom” and “name”; it is vital not to confuse it with the sound “m” observed in the words “many”, “maiden”, “may”, and “me” which are direct manifestation of alliteration
