Anne Bogart was born in Newport, Rhode Island, but she would always be moving, when she moved to different schools she would find out where theater was made, she love theater so she would be very happy when she knew that all the schools she went to had theater as a subject. Back when Bogart was 15 her teacher was going to direct a play, but she had gotten the flu few days before the play and asked if Bogart could take over. Bogart had directed the play and in the end everything went through properly. She then decided that she would make a career out of directing. After high school she had moved to New York and taught theater to mentally ill people. After a while she fell in love with German theatre, so tried to direct her own by looking at famous German companies, later she realized that she is not German, she is American, so she should direct the American way, instead of trying to be German.
SITI Company also know as the Saratoga International Theatre Institute is a physical/dance theater company founded by Anne Bogart and Tadashi Suzuki in the year 1992. They had created SITI Company to create a different meaning to contemporary theater in the US, they wanted to do that by allowing different nationalities to come together and work together. She had gotten a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bard College and a Master of Arts degree from the Tisch school of the arts. When Bogart and Suzuki started the SITI company, their aim was to create new pieces of work, to make people from different countries come together and work with each other and to train the young theater artists.
