Anne Frank, a Jewish girl, wrote “ Despite everything, I think people are really good at heart.” Anne Frank, the person who spoke these words, lived and died during a truly horrific time during the 1940’s. That horrific time is known as the Holocaust. During the Holocaust, thousands of people of the Jewish religion were sent off to concentration camps to be worked to death or killed. Many people would think that after what Adolf Hitler did to those poor innocent Jewish people, he was a man with great wickedness in his heart, but I disagree with that statement. I strongly believe that people are really good at heart, even after the actions of the Holocaust. People are really good at heart, even if they had done some terrible things. In a scene from the movie The Book Thief Mama Huberman says that instead of them eating three meals a day they will eat two because Max is with them now and he also needs to be fed.(The book Thief) Also on the website I found it said a store owner would give up some of her food for the thirty-seven jews hiding in her pharmacy basement. (Holocaust museum Encyclopedia) Also in the book Anne Frank Diary of a Young Girl it states that Meip would go and spend her money on the people living in the Annex so they would have enough food to eat.(Diary of Anne Frank) People would give up their food to help the Jews from starving. The people who would help the Jews with food were very nice because sometimes in order for the jews to get food they would have to give up some of their own food. People are truly good at heart even after the actions that they faced. Most importantly, people would help Jewish people get away even the Nazi’s would help sometimes. Also, many people would risk their lives to save others. Last but not least, people would give up some of their food so the Jewish people could have some. Anne Frank was a very smart person who spoke very smart words. I agree with the words Anne Frank spoke. During the Holocaust it was a horrific time, but people would help each other out and they got through this time
