It was kind of sad that she hadn't felt the love of a child her whole life. It's becoming evident of Marilla's liking to Anne. At first she couldn't believe she was adopting a little girl and know she's adjusting. Though she loved that kiss from Anne even though she would never tell Anne. It was the little things that she liked about Anne. Her honesty for one she liked that when she didn't like someone or something she would tell Marilla so. When her whole life in Green Gables Marilla has kept her opinions to herself.
"I'm awfully sorry i made fun of your hair, Anne, he whispered contingently . Honest i am .Don't be mad for keeps, now" (Montgomery 74 )
After Anne slammed the chalkboard of Gilbert Blythe's head he tried to apologize to her. She paid him no attention. Even though Anne doesn't like him i think she will soon. Anne must mean something to Gilbert for him to apologize because she doesn't do that. He placed him in a good spot in the book because Anne and everyone else is adjusting and he is a new character that Anne will grow to like.
