Basic Definitions: Advertising, Marketing, Promotion, Public Relations and Publicity, and Sales. (n.d.). Retrieved November 16, 2014, from http://managementhelp.org/marketing/advertising/defined.htm
This source is a website that helps me out only a little bit. It gave me a definition for what advertising is and I used this in my speech. I used the definition because it was a very good way to begin talking about the advertising industry. Although this was by no means a vital part of my speech research it did give me that working definition.
Belkaui, A., & Belkaui, J. (1976). A Comparative Analysis of the Roles Portrayed by Women in Print Advertisements: 1958, 1970, 1972. Journal of Marketing Research, 8, 92-95. This study is was the very first study I found on the topic of advertising. Although it was not exactly my topic of male advertisements it still gave some useful information. I used these researchers’ comments to relate to another study that I used in my speech making this a useful source.
The Gender Ads Project. (n.d.). Retrieved November 16, 2014, from http://www.genderads.com This website is a site that is solely devoted to gender in advertisements. On the site it says “Its goal is to promote greater awareness of the relationships of gender and advertising as well as an understanding of the social, cultural, political, personal, psychological and other effects of gender and advertising”. Now this gave me many ideas on where to go when talking about my topic. It is a very interactive site with many videos and examples of gender in advertisements.
