Haley Trad Dr. Nestor ANS 211 4/1/2024 ANS 211 Lab 1 Rotation Summary In my recent ANS 211 lab rotation, I had the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities aimed at familiarizing myself with laboratory protocols and procedures essential for animal research. This experience provided me with invaluable insights into the processes involved in conducting scientific investigations and ensuring animal welfare. The lab rotation began with a tour of the lab, during which I familiarized myself with the layout and safety areas/measures of the lab, such as an eye wash station, chemical shower, and lab coats. Additionally, I devoted quite a bit of time to reading research articles pertinent to ongoing projects within the lab and previous research the lab had done. This enhanced my comprehension of scientific literature and acquainted me with current advancements in animal science. Analyzing research articles also showed me the importance of critically evaluating experimental methodologies and interpreting results accurately. Another aspect of the rotation involves participating in random allotment procedures. Random allotment, also known as random assignment, is a pivotal aspect of experimental design in scientific research, ensuring unbiased allocation of participants to different treatment groups. A crucial component of experimental design in scientific research, random assignment, or random allotment, guarantees the impartial assignment of individuals to various treatment groups. Researchers reduce the impact of biases and confounding variables by randomly allocating participants to experimental settings, which improves the validity and reliability of study
