Superbugs are strains of bacteria that are resistant to the majority or all antibiotics we use today (Antibiotic Resistance, Rise of the Superbugs video). When someone misuses antibiotics, it causes the bacteria to mutate and evolve. Like mentioned in our lecture, bacteria can evolve in just a couple of hours (class lecture #2). When bacteria evolve and starts resisting the different antibiotics, they eventually form into a superbug (Antibiotic Resistance, Rise of the Superbugs video).Natural selection implies that within a population only those who have adapted will survive.
