To give a brief overview of who the Federalists and Antifederalists were; the Federalists and Antifederalists were two groups on opposing sides of the constitution(56). The Federalists supported the Constitution and a stronger central government, and vice-versa the Antifederalists opposed the constitution and wanted a stronger state government with more individual rights. Both groups debated with each other for almost 3 years until a conclusion was finally made. Had the Federalists not cracked down and compromised with the Anti Federalists they might not have ever gotten the Constitution ratified, and that would’ve put us at a large disadvantage compared to the rest of the world due to the United States not having a truly unified government on which they can all rely or participate in.
