Although Antigone may appear to be a play about a clash of wills between a heroine and villain, it contains a larger significance. Antigone, the heroine, who buries her brother despite the horrid consequences does not see anything wrong with her actions. Similarly, Creon, the villain in the play, views his decree as also just in the situation. As a result, this difference in morals produces a struggle between the two characters. Antigone centers all of her actions on the belief that the Gods are above all. For this reason, Antigone buries her brother, as in her eyes it is right by divine law, or the will of the Gods. Everyone no matter how severe the crime deserves a proper burial. On the other hand, Creon bases his actions on human law. Therefore
