I tutor Korean high school students. While reading their social studies textbook, I recognized that the textbook does not elaborate Canada’s antisemitism further; information about the antisemitism was very short and not precise. This triggered my curiosity and I researched further, then I found out that even the Canadian Citizenship Guide does not have any information related to Canada’s reaction to Jewish refugees during the Holocaust. In fact, Canada’s stance towards the survivors of the Holocaust in the early 20th century was very indifferent and even said it is ‘not Canada’s problem’.
