(Pavlov)Behaviourism is a approach to psychology that mainly focuses on behaviour. The good things about behaviourism is that it is based on facts and test results. The bad things about it is that it doesn’t reflect humans as many test have been done on animals. There are two parts to behaviourism. They are operant and classical conditioning. Classical conditioning is when the subject learns a new behaviour by associating two things together. A experiment was done by Ivan Pavalov on his dogs. The dog learned to associate the ringing of the bell with his dinner being ready. He would then salivate when he heard the bell rang. He taught the dog to …show more content…
This is operated by trail and error. This is sometimes used in children’s behaviour. The strengths of this is that once the child acknowledge he will continue as he now has motivation. This is called positive reinforcement. The bad thing about this that there is only good and bad but no in-between. Another bad thing is that after the rewards stop the child might start to misbehave again. If a child misbehaves this is a good thing to start this and make them associate good behaviour with rewards and behaviour with punishment. A example of operant conditioning is the expedient of B.F Skinner (1938). A bird could distinguish the difference and make the action of two words. The words were peck and turn. The bird would have to peck and he would get a treat or turn and get a treat. Its in a controlled environment. The bird was always hungry and food was used to simulate the experiment. The bird was first learned to peck in order to get food. Every time they got in right they got food which is positive
