AP Seminar has a huge negative impact on student life. Everyone I've talked to who is taking that class is always stressed about it. People feel rushed in writing their essays and making their presentations, because for some reason the teachers need to teach rhetorical analysis instead of giving their students extra time to do these huge assessments. It's extremely difficult to get all the information you need in a presentation when you're given a strict time limit. Plus, the stimulus materials you're providing are dumb and its extremely hard to find an interesting theme between multiple sources provided. So many students I know are struggling in this class because the curriculum doesn't give students enough time to do all of the research and writing necessary to get a good grade. Its nearly impossible to get a 5 and is more hurtful to a students academic life than helpful. Plus, most colleges don't even count an AP seminar as an English credit, meaning you'll still have to take the general English college classes and an AP seminar won't benefit you that way either. While colleges will look at AP scores for college admissions, there are better AP English classes that are way more reasonable and colleges actually take English credit. Many students are tricked into believing that taking an AP seminar will save them lots of money and time later in college, but the fact of the matter is, most colleges don't accept it as credit.
