Instead of analyzing the performance, book, movie, or song itself to determine weather or not that thing is authentic and enjoyable, art is judged on weather or not it fits into the generic culture standard of its medium.
The Hunger Games characters all fit into particular archetypes, which is a large part of what makes the characters authentic between the books and the movies. There are seven main archetypes; the trickster, the fool, the witch, the hero, the madonna, the artemis, and the mother. The story follows Katniss Everdeen, a sixteen year old girl from district twelve, which is the nation’s poorest and least important district, and the protagonist of the novel. Katniss lives with her mother and younger sister, and her main motive in the first part of the story is to protect them and those who she cares about. Katniss fits into the Artemis archetype. She is a strong, female protector type character who’s main motivation is protecting her family and friends. The allusion to her archetype is very present in the book, as she even fights with a bow and arrow, which is the weapon of the greek goddess Artemis. In the book, her entire character is based on the idea of being the strong provider. She protects and provides for her sister and mother at home, and does the same for Peeta and her other allies in the
