In Jessica Roy’s article “Are Real or Artificial Christmas trees Better for the Environment?”, she compares the environmental effects of both authentic and artificial Christmas trees. She explains that real Christmas trees are better for one time uses but if you plan on reusing the artificial tree, it can be beneficial to the environment. In order to grow a real tree, dirt, water, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and human labor are required. Artificial trees on the other hand are built in factories in China for the most part and use PVC plastic, steel and aluminum.
