Argument Analysis: The Breakfast Club

Introduction Dr. Umar Johnson, in an interview with the Breakfast Club, presents a discussion concerning social racism that takes place in the American society, particularly affecting the African Americans. Johnson says that the current President Barrack Obama does not take into considerations the plights of Blacks. African Americans are undergoing various struggles especially in social disparities and prejudice. Johnson says that the problem facing African Americans never started in the current times but during slavery. He then says the solution is not about armed physical struggle but rather have a demonstration against the United States to the whole world. However, this discussion focuses on the two issues about whether the solution is about armed physical struggle or through peaceful boycotts against racism.

There are allegations that the small offenses that Blacks commit are usually translated into huge offenses as compared to the Whites (Cole, 2010). In other words, Blacks are punished more than Whites yet they have done similar offenses. The racial disparity in the judicial system has reached a point where Blacks are receiving sentences that are not justified as compared to the Whites. Even during police search, Blacks undergo intensive search and police stops as compared to the Whites (Cole, 2010). In other words, the police conduct this search to determine whether they have any criminal evidences.
