This deadly mass school shooting has once again put military style weapons back in the spotlight and has become a topic of debate.
Shortly after the Parkland school shooting the Florida House of Representatives voted on House Bill 219 which could ban the sale of assault weapons. Within just 3 minutes the House voted down the motion 71 to 36. The bill would have banned large capacity magazines also labeling weapons such as the AR-15 as assault weapons and then ban them. The bill was assigned to three committees in the house but those committees weren’t scheduled to meet again before the legislative session ended on March 9th which essentially meant the Bill was dead unless the House voted to open debate again.
